Human: Having the form of a person.
Landscape: The branch of art dealing with the depiction of natural scenery.
Humanlandscapes: A visual exploration of the human form and a celebration of the link between ourselves and the
natural world.
I have been fascinated by human psychology, physiology, and behavior since early childhood. My quest for understanding and exploring the world led me to a career in medicine. As a physician specializing in reproductive medicine, the human body has been my passion and a lifetime of study and practice has given me a deep respect for the astonishingly complex and beautiful home we each inhabit. Capturing the emotion and honoring the miracle and mystery of life and body is the goal of my figurative work.
Photography has been the medium that has helped me create visual stories, and I have traveled and photographed people and landscapes in many parts of the world. My passion, however, lies in the American Southwest and figurative photography. To me, the Southwest represents the essence of earthly beauty and the emotions I feel as I wander and explore are unique and powerful. It is similar to what I feel as I hand a newborn child to her mother to comfort against her skin. Life has come full circle.
Searching for beauty in nature and honoring the beauty I see in humanity is healing, and sharing that passion and curiosity is the focus for all of my work.
